Forklift Tires
When it comes to installation types, there are two kinds regarding forklift tires: press on and standard. Usually, press on tires are utilized on electric forklifts and those types of forklifts operating in indoor applications like for instance warehouses. The press on tires could be used also in light industrial application as well.

Standard tires are generally used on forklifts which operate in outdoor environment or where rough or uneven surfaces need tougher tires and more traction.

Since there are many different kinds of forklifts, there are also lots of various types of forklift tires. The most commonly utilized tires are polyurethane, pneumatic and solid. The type of tires are dictated by where and what the forklift is used for. It is vital to obtain the right type of tires for the job and ensuring the proper pick would have a big impact on both performance and safety.

For outdoor forklifts that have to operate in an all-terrain environment like on a construction site, the best alternative would be pneumatic tires. These are made of durable rubber and then filled with air, similar to a truck or tractor tire. Pneumatic tires create an air cushion between the terrain and the forklift itself. This design considerably lessens the wear and tear on the equipment and creates a very comfortable ride for the operator. The deep, thick treads on the tires give the necessary traction needed for use on uneven and rough surfaces.

For light industrial applications, both indoors and outdoors, solid tires are best. They are made out of constructed solid, tough rubber. This helps them to stay safer from blowouts, popping like pneumatic tires or damage due to puncture wounds. Since these tires are not filled with air, they are unable to provide the cushion effect. This fact makes them not suitable for use on rough terrain. Some solid tires are constructed with holes in the sidewalls to provide a fairly softer ride. The only issue is that this kind of construction makes the load carrying capacity of the forklift less.

Although they are intended for indoor warehouse use only, polyurethane forklift tires will normally outlast both rubber tire designs. The load capacity of polyurethane is a lot higher compared to a rubber tire. These tires work great with well with electric forklifts due to the additional weight of the equipment's batteries. Because of the tire's less rolling resistance, one more benefit of this kind of tire is the longer battery life.
