Reach Truck
To be able to keep storage places tidy and to store pallets of goods and supplies, a reach truck could be used. The reach truck is available in quite a few types: the stand-up reach, double-deep reach and straddle reach.
The simplest type is the stand-up. The truck forks slide underneath the pallet and move it to the right storage place. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular type of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are just one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is similar to the stand-up, but is best for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods. This model has telescopic forks intended to put the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet should go into the same shelving section.
The added advantage of straddle reaches is that they can both slide underneath the pallet and grasp the sides too. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in multiple directions. This particular version is ideal in situations where goods will not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
In nearly all warehouses, there are usually more than one type of reach truck. Manufacturing facilities and textile firms use different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to operate and can increase productivity while maximizing available storage space.
