The forklift is a material handling machine used to raise and transport loads from one location to another. Every forklift component has a specific function. Various components could be utilized to transport the load vertically or horizontally.
Mast
The parts utilized to lift and lower the load is known as the forklift mast. There are different kinds of masts utilized for raising loads to various heights: simplex, duplex, triplex and quad.
Power Supply
Forklifts have four different ways of being powered: electric, gas, diesel and propane. The battery is located in the cab beneath the seat. The propane tank is on the rear of the truck. The fuel tank on gas and diesel forklifts is underneath the rear of the truck.
Cab
Positioned within the center of the truck is the forklift cab. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the controls and informational gauges. The gas pedal, steering wheel, lifting controls, tilting controls and brake are all located in the cab.
Frame
Carrying all the biggest forklift parts is the frame of the truck. This includes the counterweights situated at the rear that prevents the truck from tipping over when loaded. The frame includes the overhead guard which protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the axles, wheels and driveshaft.
