Change an LPG Cylinder
There are different types of sources that could power forklifts. They can run from gasoline, LP gas or liquid propane, battery or diesel. LP is a clean burning fuel preferred for numerous applications. There are some facilities that have large liquid propane supplies on site. This allows forklifts to be refueled anytime they need. In other places, the facility will have spare LP cylinders that can be changed out when the machine has to be refueled.
When changing out an LP cylinder, you must really be careful in order to prevent possible serious injuries. For example: be sure to wear the appropriate safety equipment like goggles or safety glasses and heavy gloves. Turn off the ignition of the forklift prior to changing out the tank. Next, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is securely closed. Use your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Bear in mind that it will turn in the opposite direction of a normal connection and never utilize a metal tool or any type of wrench on these connections. They are meant to be tightened by hand only.
