Propane cylinders are designed to take up very little space and can be kept inside the storage area or in an outdoor facility. It does take some time to switch out a propane cylinder, although, it still does requires operator training in order to be conducted safely and also require knowledge of safety standards such as the Occupational Health and Safety Administration or OSHA.

IC lift trucks are faster and easier to refuel, compared to electric forklifts, but the IC or internal combustion engines produce major air-polluting emissions and are extremely noisy.

NARROW-AISLE FORKLIFTS
The ITA's Class 2 trucks comprise a large variety of electric lift trucks and these are particularly designed to be utilized in narrow aisles. The regular storage aisles are 12 feet wide, and this easily enables a counterbalanced forklift to turn in the aisle and put a load away. Usually, the very narrow aisles are about 5.5 to 6 feet wide, while narrow aisles are 8 feet wide. These narrow aisles need specialized lift trucks that are capable of putting away loads without any turning at all or which are small enough to turn on a tight radius.

Turret trucks, order pickers and reach trucks are 3 of the most common narrow-aisle trucks. The differences amongst these trucks are discussed below.

Narrow-Aisle Reach Lift Trucks
The original narrow-aisle forklift is considered to be the conventional reach truck. These machines do not need a huge counterweight and are hence, small enough to turn in narrow aisles. Instead, stability is provided by the outrigger arms which extend in front of the forklifts. Nevertheless, these outrigger arms could prevent the lift trucks from getting near enough to the storage rack to retrieve and deposit loads, depending on the storage configuration. In order to overcome this specific situation, a pantograph was designed. The pantograph is a reach truck which is made with a telescoping mechanism. This enables forks to easily and concisely reach into storage locations.

The ideal environment for a narrow-aisle forklift is a place which is clean, has good lighting, and has good traffic flow, well-maintained floors, as well as a sufficient turning aisle.
These types of machinery have changed the material handling industry. Toyota stands behind their commitment to providing really durable machines and excellent quality.
